Texas Star Chart Presentation

Nimitz HS STaR chart summary

Texas Long Range Plan for Technology 2006-2020

At Nimitz HS we have purchased technology that is relavant and necessary for teacher and student success. The Texas Long Range Plan for Technology area that Nimitz has addressed is the Infrastructure for Technology area. In 2005 the Star Chart completed by teachers on the campus were scored at the advanced level for implementation of technology with a score of 16. This level is the third of four levels for mastery on the campus to follow the TLRPT. Since the 2005 school year the campus has dropped down to the second level for mastery. The campus has remained at this level for the next two school years with no improvement in their score. Looking at the overall Texas school data 57% of campuses have reached the Advanced level in the TLRPT. Nimitz has dropped to the level with 34.9% of other Texas campuses for following the mandates of the TLRPT.

To help the campus regain the next highest level interactive Star Boards were purchased for most of the science teachers free use in the classrooms. Two opportunities for staff development were presented to all teachers for the use of the boards. The campus has plans for ordering addtitional boards for the remaining science teachers and the math department. Last school year teachers had an opportunity to warmup to the use of the boards within their classrooms. This year teachers will be asked to fully incorporate the boards into their lessons and instructional strategies in the classroom.
